Radar x Smirnoff DJ Masterclass
We’ve teamed up with Smirnoff to provide the final Radar Academy workshop of 2016. Taking place on Saturday 3rd of December, 15 DJs will be selected to spend a day at Radar being tutored by our talented extended family.
The workshop will start off with Radar founder Ollie Ashley in conversation with BBC 1Xtra DJ and founder of ZOO Music label, Monki, who will provide advice on how to make a name for yourself in the saturated DJ scene of 2016, as well as tips on how to open your mind to new styles, cultures and techniques. After this talk, five of our finest DJs will be working closely with successful applicants to holistically improve their sets and skills. The Academy will be split into three groups according to different mixing styles: USB/ Rekordbox, taught by Manara and 2SHIN of BBC AZN NETWORK; Serato/ vinyl, taught by Hipsters Don’t Dance; and controller, taught by Jetsss.
The aim of the workshop is to help intermediate DJs improve their technical ability and curation skills, in addition to advice on honing their individuality, developing a personal brand and getting bookings. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE(!) Every successful applicant will be given the opportunity to record a mix under the watchful eye of their tutor, with the best of the bunch being selected to guest mix on the one-off Smirnoff x Radar Radio show (date tbc).
