This month has been huge for trainer releases. This month we feature ONLY collaborations, as that’s where the best kicks come from. Crossovers between companies always result in something expected. We’re adding a new feature to Footwork, too: each edition will feature ‘Kicks of the Month’. You’ll find them at the end of the post.
Timbs are a classic for the cold seasons. If you don’t want the basic tan colour ways, go for this icy all grey option. Grid patterning and WTAPS branding let people know these aren’t standard issue. The shoe boasts Timberland’s waterproof nubuck leather, making them perfect for the winter months. Be sure to size down with Timberlands, otherwise they’ll look like clown shoes.
#cozyboys. End have teamed up with Vans to release a winter-friendly edition of the classic Old Skool silhouette. The Nordic Wools feature turtle dove woollen uppers and a leather side stripe, guaranteed to keep your feet warm. The release features two colour ways and comes with exclusive END packaging and branding. Be sure to sign up to the raffle if you want a pair as they are a limited release.
Jordan’s are something you see a lot of, but not with these colours. Sometimes gold shoes can come off as corny, but Nike have nailed it with this release. The asymmetrical colours on each shoe separate these shoes from your average J’s. After it’s exclusive release over at ComplexCon, Jordan fans are finally getting another chance to cop. Once again, these are stocked in limited quantities so make sure you enter the raffle over at END if you want to cop.
If you like Astro Boy and quality kicks, these are for you. The Intrepid matches Astro Boys classic colours. The B.Elite Silhouette sees an all white paint job with red detailing. The collection does not stop at trainers, featuring jackets, caps and other collectables. As its Diadora, expect nothing but premium Italian materials including Italian leather and silk suede.
Kith have been consistently providing some of the best releases in the footwear industry in the last few years, and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. Kith are the kings of collaborations, and this one with Japanese outfit Nonnative features renditions of the Twinstrike AD and Ultraboost Mid silhouettes. The Primeknit on the Ultraboost fit like a sock, and is covered in crazy 3M patterns (Footwork Tip – 3M is the reflective material which ‘glows’ when light [usually a camera flash for the IG post] hits it). The Twinstrike AD feels and looks deconstructed, with cream nubuck uppers and the iconic three-stripes ‘hanging’ of the side of the shoe.
KICKS OF THE MONTH
Season two of the Adidas originals by Alexander Wang is going out with a bang. Two other shoes are being released simultaneously but this one is a madness. Black uppers and green suede work well, but it’s the midsole of the shoe that makes it. What looks like Adidas boost is contrasted with a block of black at the front and tan accents at the heel. These are undoubtedly the kicks of the month. Why? Cause they are different. Go out and buy some kicks that make you stand out, not look like a sheep.
